...And So Ended My Final Chapter in St. Louis...(My Deepest Gratitude)
So many great moments we spent together....
So many obstacles we overcomed together....
Through this verse shall I present my deepest gratitude....
First day in St. Louis, late because of the inspection at LAX BCIS. For the first time I met several Indonesians in St. Louis. Nice people, got several Maruchan cup noodles for breakfast on the next morning in the hotel.
More and more as I got to be acquinted with other Indonesians. Few points to state, the smaller group we are (compared to other groups of Indonesians in other cities in this country), the more united we are. You have helped me adjust here, you have mold me to be who I am, the way I think, the way I behave (in a positive and graceful manner though). You cheered me up, you were all there for me. We worked together, we helped each other. I can't mention each of anyone of you. But each of you has left a mark in my heart, a special manner of which I cherish each of you. No, not only the Indonesians, but you as well, my darling non-Indonesian friends. As a human being, I did, sometimes, feel uneasy on any of you, but the joyful times we spent together buried those feelings. I present you my sincere apology and gratitude.
Finally, the time for me to relinquish my body in St. Louis. At this point I closed all my textbooks. I walked the aisle to receive my diploma. A long journey awaited me. Ah, I realized that I have to leave you for my dreams. Once again, thank you for being there for me. I realized how ungraceful I am for not being able to say goodbye to each of you. I realized it is too late for me to write this verse as my body now dwells in farther state in Virginia. But I believe that it is better being late than doing nothing. And once again, I would like to bid farewell. Now it's time for me to close my textbooks, and so ended my final chapter in St. Louis. I closed these textbooks and wrapped them in a beautiful cover of friendship. A card attached to it with my deepest gratitude. Here in St. Louis where I gained knowledge and experience of academia and friendship. May we adjourn in some other time, some other place, in a better condition.
