I`m Singing in the Rain, Just Singing in the Rain, La La La

Singing to me is an activity in which I can sing any song that I love, express my feelings (I don`t sing when I`m not in the mood), and escape to my own world. I don`t know how it was started, but whenever I start to sing, some people will say that I know how to sing and have a beautiful voice. I love black music (but not really into hip-hop and raps), and they say that I have black voice. I must admit that I listen to music by Peabo Bryson, Brian McKnight, Lauryn Hill, Whitney Houston, Al Jarreau, Eric Bennet, Luther Vandross, Christina Aguilera, and many more. Indonesian singers will be music by Harvey Malaiholo, Reza Artamevia, Krisdayanti, Rio Febrian, and many more. I try to imitate the way they sing. According to some people`s opinion, therefore, I`m truly thankful to God for this gift of talent He bestows upon me (at least that's what I think).

I sing in almost every occasion, but never have I sung during shower. Some people will think this is pretty odd as the fact is that many people sing during shower. A research found that singing in a shower may be a healing to human`s brain. We all know that songs have healing qualities and we can tell each of us if we are in a good mood based on humming or singing. But why must it always be in shower? Was it most of us are too shy to sing or hum alone? (I know I am actually one of them)

A Small Performance in a Shower

An interesting fact is that in shower room, or bathroom, one`s vocal change. In reality, most of us can`t sing; only 0.001% of the population can sing with any degree of expertise. Researchers found that here, in this private room, those who can`t sing can sound two or three level better than the originals. This is probably because of the acoustics of the tiled walls or because of the sense of privacy in a bathroom that one can be as creative as he/she can and produces a better result. Or, (oops, pardon me) since there is no one there to judge his or her awfulness in singing. Anyway, singing is the best way to keep up your mood and as what The Carpenters would say in their song "Sing" (Words & Music by Joe Raposo):

Sing, sing a song
Sing out loud
Sing out strong
Sing of good things not bad
Sing of happy not sad.

Sing, sing a song
Make it simple to last
Your whole life long
Don't worry that it's not
Good enough for anyone
Else to hear
Just sing, sing a song.

Sing, sing a song
Let the world sing along
Sing of love there could be
Sing for you and for me.

Sing, sing a song
Make it simple to last
Your whole life long
Don't worry that it's not
Good enough for anyone
Else to hear
Just sing, sing a song.

Anyhow, let us make the world a melodious place to be.
